You don't say, Sassy. Do you ever come back here? I was down by the Lakewalk briefly today. Lots of people out enjoying the 90 degree weather which, as you know, isn't what Duluth is known for. Here's another shot of your town on the hill.

Pontoon boats are a lot of fun. Being able to run a pontoon up on a beach is handy and a pontoon's shallow draft allows for a lot of exploring. I dated a gal for a while who had a pontoon at her cabin. It was a big one with a bar-b-que and built in ice chest. Gee I miss that boat.

I have a 22' sailboat in the marina. I took her out on Saturday and spent about 8 hours on Lake Superior. Saturday was an almost perfect day for sailing. Around 70 degrees with clear skies and a steady wind blowing. Lots of boats on the water. The summers here are pretty short and given that I have a few other summer interests, I put my boat up for sale last spring. Luckily, no one bought it. Technically my boat is still for sale if the buyer wants to pay the full asking price, but every time I take her out the asking price goes up. Anyway, here are a few photos from yesterday.
The marina where my slip is. Note picnic table at the right. I've killed several brain cells at that very table.
My boat. Its small but nimble and steady. The mainsail is uncovererd and the jib is rigged and ready to hoist. Outboard is down. Time to go!
Heading through the channel. Minnesota on the left, Wisconsin on the right, and Lake Superior dead ahead.
Another boat on Superior (aka the Sweetwater Sea) flying a spinaker.
1,000 foot iron ore boat inbound to Duluth to take on a load of taconite for the steel mills on the lower lakes.
My camera batteries died so I don't have any photos of the crew taking the traditional (my tradition anyway) safe return shot of scotch with dockside cocktails to follow. I did end up at that picnic table at the head of the dock later and joined some of the other skippers and guests. Someone brought out a bar-b-que, someone else set up a couple of blenders and was busy making strawberry daiquiris, and plenty of cold beer was on hand. I ended up spending the night on board.

Remember we dress modestly
The elder who gave this direction probably has a something like this in mind:
Sisters anticipating eternal life in paradise dressed modestly enjoying the party.
A certainly doomed sister dressed immodestly bringing reproach on gawd's prefect orginization.

Animal's trip 07
by animal ini put the pics from our trip last week up temporarily.
i will be making a better page when i find some more time.. we left phoenix early, when it was only 95 degrees.... went the back roads to and thru new mexico... then up into colorado.
we lost the back brake on the harely the first day and never did fix them... harley dealers suck and won't put you in front of the line for service.

Nice photos, Animal. You and I must have been in CO at about the same time. I was in Durango on the 4th of July. The only real bad weather I encountered was at Wolf Creek Pass. I had to turn around and spend the night in Pagosa Springs. That was a fun little town. Sorry to hear about your brake problem. I've had good luck with Harley shops when on the road. I needed a 40,000 mile service while in Durango. Showed up at the shop a little after 8 in the morning and by 8:30 my bike was being worked on. By 1:00 I was on the road again. The only Harley dealer I've had trouble with is the one here in town. Too bad I didn't know you were in the area around the same time. It would have been fun to meet.

I arrived back home yesterday afternoon. The ride was really good. Traveling on the bike is great therapy. I met Gary Buss in South Dakota and Uninformed and his family in Kansas. Thanks for the breakfasts, Gary and Brant. I really enjoyed your company. The states I made on this trip were Minnesota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, and back to Minnesota. Basically I went from home to Jackson, Wy to Durango, CO, to Denver, to Kansas City, and then home again. I had one close call with a car in Vernal, Utah (driver at a stop sign talking on a cell phone didn't look my way before pulling out. It was a tight squeeze.). Speaking of Utah, I stopped at the Flaming Gorge Dam (it was 100+ degrees when I was there and I felt like I was on fire) and read an entry in the visitors book. It said something like, "An amazing place. What a blessing from Jehovah God." Rather an odd comment about a hydroelectric dam. After I had left it occurred to me that I should have drawn an arrow and written freeminds.org or something. But I was dehydrated and road weary so I didn't think of it in time. Anyway, the trip was fun but it was good to get home and fall asleep in my own bed with a cool Lake Superior breeze blowing through the window. I'm hoping to do one more ride late summer or early fall. I need to get a few more miles on before the warranty expires. Heres a couple of photos from the trip.

Its vital that whoever did this is found. Setting the dog aside for moment (a truely awful act), people who engage in this type of activity graduate to doing similar things to people. Think about it. I doubt that skinning a dog alive was the first act of insanity this person has done. If not found and dealt with, eventually someone will be tortured, mutilated and/or killed.

Beautiful Women and Dorks
by Save My Soul inlooking back at a few bethel threads and getting calls from many former friends last week about the assembly season, i reflected back on some of the assemblies of the past, particularly in the 80's and 90's.. do you remember beautiful sisters that just had the criteria of having a spiritual man.
they would get a dorky pioneer / elder / ms and walk together at the assembly.
everyone would wonder, "how the hel did that happen".

In the Bikder world you see the big fat greasy biker with the babe, they do it with drugs.
Like using dope to pick up women is exclusive to the biker culture. The real reason you see nice looking women with fat, greasy bikers is because fat, greasy bikers like to have fun. It also helps if the fat, greasy biker knows how to handle a bike.
That's incredible!!
